Pilgrimage to Wells

On Monday 6th March the Year 4’s went to Wells Cathedral to take part in the annual Pilgrim Day which takes place each year. They met with other first school year 4 children from within Somerset who will be moving on to their new schools in September. In preparation for the day the children found out about Pilgrims and Pilgrimages that take place around the world. They wrote a school prayer together to celebrate their time at their first schools and their hopes for their future in their next school. The children constructed a map of their journey to the Cathedral and these are both displayed at the Cathedral throughout the day. The Berkley prayer was chosen to be read during the closing ceremony read by Beau and Casey. The day began witha short opening service in the Cathedral and then the children took part in three workshops which include a tour of the Cathedral. The day ended with the closing ceremony. Lilia and Finley paraded the school banner in a possession around the church and Tyler and Sophie collected the school candle that was blessed during the service. A thought provoking, peaceful and enjoyable experience was had by all that took part.
