The elected school council have been busy trying to make Berkley a better place. In the recent meeting they reviewed the ‘buddy system’ (year 4 children looked after reception children to help them settle in). The children found this system very successful and a year one pupil wished they had it last year!
The council also discussed the ‘playground leaders’ who have been actively involving lots of children throughout their lunchtimes to take part in organised activities. The year 4 children have loved the opportunity to lead this and the rest of the school has benefitted from this.
The council’s most recent project is to focus on how to make the quiet area once again effective. They decided that a sign needed to be made and they will share more information about this in the assembly that they are planning!
