Parents and Community

This section is all about how you can join in and be part of our community.

Berkley First School is very much an active community. Pupils, parents / carers and staff at school are all important ‘stakeholders’ and we want everyone to have their say, to express their ideas and to keep on making our learning community a great place to be.

The school encourages open communication between home and school and issues regular newsletters to parents, via their children, detailing events and particulars concerning school. These events are also communicated through our school website.

May we take this opportunity to thank the people of Berkley for the interest and encouragement given to the school. We aim to build on the links already established in our community.

We often have articles in the Frome Standard to share all of the exciting events in school with our wider community.

We are always looking for volunteers who can give time to help in school.

Do you have a regular amount of time available each week?

We want to use your strengths

- let us know what skills, talents, interests and hobbies you have  because these could help us make the most of you and make a difference for our children!

There are a range of tasks you could be involved with

- supporting reading, writing, numeracy, art, design and technology or other areas of the curriculum

- suporting with the weekly visits to the Leisure Centre for swimming.

-supporting trips and visits in the town and beyond.

So if you are free, even for an hour a week, come in and speak to Mrs Brautigam – she would love to hear from you.

Prior to commencing your work in school all helpers will be required to have successfully completed a CRB disclosure form which helps us ensure pupils are protected from harm.
